Project 1 - Assignment 2
Digital model
concept model description
My concept explores
the idea of fluidity and the idea of layering. In order to convey these two
aspects into Bulid AR I have decided to introduce the concept of ‘unfolding and
folding’ layers together to present my concept of layering.
My digital
model was created by smooth curved surfaces that have been layered upon
another. As each fluid curve represents a layer. Each bend in my concept model
represents fluid movement within my model.
The
atmosphere I aimed to create with my model is a fluid and relax environment. I
achieved this by selecting particular images to complement my concept model. I
used a calm coastal environment on crisis and coastal images to portray my and
further explore my idea of organic fluidity. I have chosen an earthy toned
material to associate with my overall theme. The material is a cream marble.
My physical
model portrays the Breaking down the layers in my model. This
process follows my idea of layer, folding and unfolding. Seen through both my
3ds model as well as my physical marker model. This clean-cut process also
allows me to unpack my model in a fluid style.
BULID AR ANIMATION
Have created three animations
that further explore the ideas of fluidity and the concept of layering.
1. Section
cut
This animation consists of the slicing in half of
my concept model. With this animation the viewer is able to see the complexity
in the design of the layers in my concept.
This animation slices in half, shows one of the model and the other
half; they then unite together as one model.
2. Unfolding and folding the layers
This animation explores the folding construction
between the multiple layers in my model. The animation begins with the pieces
of the model laying close to flat, then teach individual layer curls up and
forms into its shape. The ‘curling’ up movement further portrays the idea of
fluidity and fluid movement.
<3. Unpacking and re-packing
This animation continues the concept of layering.
The layers in between packing themselves together, enabling the viewer to see
each layer form together to create the model. Once the model is formed, the
layers individually unpack themselves.
My first 3 markers are three stills. With the
combination of fluid movement, this method enables me to portray my 2 main
concepts fluidity and layering, and my sub concept, folding and unfolding. The first
marker represents the first few layers of my model, the base layers, as I fold
my model the next marker presented shows the next lot of layers, and it leads
to the third marker which is the whole model.
