The inspiration for the City of Culture of Galicia originated from the
idea of the form being an artificial landscape. The end result portrayed an actual
natural, organic landform in the
shape of fluid hills rippling and layering across the horizon. Folding
and melting within the landscape.
On Eisenman’s style,
with both his linear and organic forms he divides, slices and splits his forms
into different layers to define different parts of the form. The idea of layering is evident in my 3D visual
ideas. His works are similar to layering the pieces together to create his cluster
of buildings. By looking at the City of Galicia from a birds eye view it is
clear his method of ‘putting the layers of puzzles
together’ has been implemented into the creation of this form.
